Our home

We have 20 acres on the west side of Otago Harbour, between Port Chalmers and Aramoana. We have a large house with a guest bedroom for our house sitters on the ground floor. We have a dog (springer spaniel), two horses, several sheep, several chickens ... who are all easy care. We have some vegetables and other plants that would appreciate watering if dry. The house has a heat pump, wood burners and a hot tub. As we are 10 minutes from Port Chalmers and 30 minutes from Dunedin, house sitters ... We hope to be away for May and June but hope that the house sitters can come a day or two early to learn about the pets and property and leave a day or so later just in case our return flight is delayed. Dates are approximate and subject to flight booking (not booked yet) and sitter availability).

favoriteWhat we love about our area

We love our large garden, our own hill, wonderful views, the beach at the bottom of the garden, the nearby surf beach, our wood burners, proximity to Port Chalmers (a really interesting small town). And we sometimes see whales, orcas and sea lions from the garden.

We have a very friendly springer spaniel, two easy care horses (a miniature and a gypsy cob), five sheep, 9 chickens and two goldfish. We are on 20 acres, 30 minutes from Dunedin CBD, one beach is at the bottom of our garden and another just 2KM away has world-class surfing.

About us

person sally

We are a retired couple (Sally was a physiotherapist, Kerry a university professor). We are active and enjoy occasional travelling, with our house and pets cared for by house sitters.

Important info

We have a 0.7KM driveway that will not suit very large vehicles. House sitters need to have some experience with horses. Our horses are friendly and easy care, but still appreciate carers with confidence around horses.

Our stay at Sally and Kerry’s beautiful home and farm was the perfect quiet getaway. All of the animals on the property had great personalities and were easy to care for. We especially loved spending time with Finn wandering the farm and cuddling on the couch in the evening. If schedules aligned, we would be ecstatic to spend more time at Tayler Point!
We had an amazing stay at Tayler Point. Sally and her husband, Kerry, clearly explained everything that needed to be done and made sure we were comfortable with the animals and home before they left. We kept in regular contact during their trip and had a smooth transition when they returned. We feel like we've made some wonderful new friends.
