Want to feel like you're living far from the hustle and bustle, yet want to be close to shops, movies and the beach? Come and housesit in our lovely home in Lucas Heights, on Auckland's North Shore, for a month over summer. We're a 5 minute drive from the mall, yet the tranquil, green surroundings filled with the gentle sounds of native birds, make it feel remote. You'll need to ensure that it stays green and lush with regular watering, and mowing, please. The animals will require daily care, but it's not onerous. We have a large dog, Ruby, a Header cross Huntaway, who's perfected the art of looking and sounding intimidating but who melts with pats and tickles and who loves "walkies". We've a small flock of hens who provide eggs in exchange for food and water. And there are three alpacas who look cute and need a weekly water top up and a daily scoop of feed.
