Opotiki

We live 15 Minutes out of town in a small house surrounded by a few gardens and native bush.

There‘s our house on the property close to the road and there‘s also a cabin for guests overlooking the native bush - you can choose yourself in which you‘d like to stay. Both are small, they have compost toilets and live on rainwater.

We‘d like our housesitter to feed the chickens and ducks, change their drinking water and pond water, check on sheep every couple of days, water potplants and occasionally check on plants in the garden.

Our place is organic, alcohol and smokefree. We‘d prefer non drinkers and smokers, but if you are a drinker or a smoker, we guess it goes without saying that you should respect the place and leave no trace of cigarettes or alcohol.

It‘s a magical place up here. Ideal for a little reset and a get away from the daily rush and busy life. Super quiet, calm and relaxing.

Besides the birdlife we have many rare native insects here which we ask you to not harm.

Housesitters need to have a vehicle as there is no other way to get to town.

We won’t have wifi but if you’d like to have it we can organise 35gb per month for $5, which would need to be paid by yourself.

You can help yourself to veggies and fruit in the garden, whatever is ready at that time while we’re away.

We obviously ask you to tidy and clean the place after the three month stay before you leave.

Idealy we want people to bring non toxic soaps/shampoos/toothpaste etc to our place.

It’s a long time for a housesit so we want someone trustworthy and someone we can be sure to follow through the whole three months. That’s why we advertise early and would love to meet the person who is keen properly.
