Melissa & Ben

Hello!
We are Mel & Ben, a couple originally from the UK but now currently travelling New Zealand for the first time. We've signed up to Kiwi Housesitters to try and elevate our travels around the South Island with some animal interaction and also to experience living like locals!

We would be so happy to look after your pets and home as if it were our own. We're both respectful, clean, tidy and understand the importance of trust whilst house sitting, so please feel free to ask us any questions!

More about Mel:
I worked for a UK Franchise called We Love Pets as a professional Dog Walker and House Sitter from 2020-2022. Over my 2 years with them I got to experience caring for so many different dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even a tortoise! Thanks to this I have a plenty of training and knowledge of dog handling and cat behaviour and also have a UK police check and basic pet first aid certificate. Of course this means I've also worked with many owners and always pride myself on being responsive, and honest, so that you're always reassured that your fur baby is in the absolute best hands.
After this I came over to Australia in February 2022 to do a 3 month fashion internship and never left! I've since lived in Sydney, Airlie Beach and Melbourne and also spent some time travelling WA. When I'm not travelling, I work for Cotton On as a pattern designer, as painting and drawing is my passion.
Back at home in Wales with my parents, I have a dog called Daisy who is my absolute everything, she's a rescue half bedlington terrier and half Labrador. We also have 5 cats who I adore. I miss my little gang, so getting to house sit and care for someone else's pets always helps with being so far away!

More about Ben:
I came to Australia in October 2022 and started my travels with a trip up the East Coast and then onto Tasmania. I fell in love with Tassie in particular and have been excited to come to New Zealand after hearing the two be compared quite often!
I also have pets back at home in the UK - two cats called Buster and Missy. I've also had various pet sitting experiences over the last ten years including looking after dogs, cats and also cats needing medicine.
I'm a massive dog lover too but never had one of my own because of the cats, so getting to know a dog over a few days would be such an awesome experience. Mostly as I'm really looking forward to getting out and about on long walks and then enjoying cuddles afterwards!
Mel and I would be absolutely honoured to be two friendly faces for any pet whilst you're away :)
