"We are a life-loving, non-smoking couple who are fortunate to have the opportunity to cycle (very) slowly around the world and would welcome any opportunities to house sit for you and explore your part of the world" - And that's how my partner Sue described our travels and the many house-sits we enjoyed in Australia and New Zealand.
Unfortunately that lovely lifestyle was interrupted by the pandemic! Sue's English and returned to the UK in June 2020 assuring me that 'she'd be back by Christmas'!
So I'm alone in NZ, but would still love to house-sit for you if you need a cat-loving house-proud sitter. Sue's the dog lover, and I'm the cat lover ('whisperer' some would say).
As Sue wrote: "In the past we worked as managers of youth hostels and thus have considerable experience of cleaning and maintaining buildings, old and new, and grounds. We are capable of small plumbing, electrical and other DIY tasks.
"We have had plenty of experience of looking after our pets - cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits - and have enjoyed the unconditional love and companionship that they give. We have also looked after cats, dogs, chickens and horses for friends.
"Recently we had the pleasure of house sitting and cat sitting in Australia for fifteen months, while the owners toured around the country. We kept in touch with the owners via email and sent photos of the cats so that they were reassured that all was well with their property and pets. It was a thoroughly enjoyable time for us, settling down for a while, making new friends and exploring a new place and the locality. We've also had much shorter housesits in Australia and New Zealand looking after dogs, cats, chooks and rats!
"We are both competent with computers and the Internet and both of us can drive.
"If you feel we would be suitable to look after your house and pets, we'd love to hear from you. We can provide references."
Hopefully you'll let me look after your cats with the same attention and care that Sue and I did together. Sue loves NZ so she'll be back as soon as MIQ allows...

Thank you Richard for looking after Baxter and Boris, they were our main concern as you would expect. They did spend the next two days looking for you on our return.
It was lovely to come home to a nice tidy house, and we can't thank you enough for looking after our boys and our home. we will definitely be contacting you in the future for our next vacation.
Richard looked after our house and our very timid cat for 3 weeks. I was amazed at how quickly the cat warmed to him and Richard made a big effort to win her round. She was very happy and clearly enjoyed his company.
Richard kept in touch regularly, including photos and asked questions if he was unsure of anything.
When we returned the house was immaculate and he stayed to debrief us before moving on.
I would definitely recommend Richard and would invite him back anytime.
Richard was great. Spoiled our kitten rotten and come home to a lovely clean house. Would recommend him to anyone.
Richard was amazing. Communication was brilliant with very regular updates. The cat was thoroughly spoilt. I will recommend his as an AAA sitter.

Sue and Richard were marvellous house and dogsitters. Communication was very easy between us both before and during the housesit. We enjoyed our introduction to the house and my dog, and I felt confident leaving them in charge while I was away. I returned to a spotless house, a very contented dog, and had a very relaxed and friendly update about their stay during my time away. I would very happily have Sue and Richard housesit for me again, and would warmly recommend them to others.
There is nothing more secure than having people at home while you're away. Get a house sitter.
