Erin

Hi! My name is Erin. I'm down to earth, quiet, patient and attentive to any pet needs - you can know they will be my best friend and be drowned in attention and affection. I understand basic pet language from my lived experience training dogs and cows, and owning or caring for dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, Guinea pigs, cows, horses, and fin fish over my life. I’m currently studying and working remotely from home so I’m looking for longer term quiet placements.

I am experienced training dogs with head and chest Halti, using a clicker, treat training, recall line, voice and hand signals, reactive dog training with desensitising (exposure titration) and I strictly follow force free protocol only. I follow Sophia Yin and the NZ force free dog trainer community. I am adept at walking all sized dogs with all levels of reactivity, though I am not at marathon level due to chronic pain conditions.

I am usually found studying. In my spare time I read a lot, meditate, yoga, listen to music or audiobooks, go for walks and bike rides in nature and play music - mostly djembe, madal and handpan these days. The most social I get at home is to have a friend around for dinner and board games. I generally leave the house for a couple of hours at a time for appointments during the week, aside from that I will just be cuddling and playing with your pets at home while I study. It’s win win, really. Except for the fact they may demand just as much from you when you are back! I am happy to follow their usual schedule to help keep them regulated.

I am able to meet in person if/when we are in the same area code, I have transport and flexible schedule. Since I would rather a longer placement with the ability to study in a quiet home environment, I’m ideally looking for homes needing pet sitting as I enjoy the distraction. I don’t mind garden maintenance as long as it isn’t too physically demanding, and happy to update as often as possible with as many pics as you’d like.
