We came to NZ from the Netherlands at least once a year since 2007 and usually stay at least a few months at a time (mainly during NZ summer season). Our daughter, her husband and our two grandchildren live in Auckland (Greenhithe). They have two cats and we have looked after them and their house when they are away.
When our children lived at home, we had dogs, chickens, sheep and rabbits. We like animals and pets. We also enjoy doing a bit of gardening. Distance from housesitting to Greenhithe isn't important, we have our own car and while we are in NZ more than three months it is not necessary to be so often at our daughter place( mostly we stay the first 14 days at her place, start than with housesittings and every time between housesittings we are several days again at her place).
Update: 3rd of October 2019 we travelled again to NZ after selling our house in the Netherlands and our stuff in storage, with an one way ticket hope the parent resident visa will reopen (January 2017 we send our EOI already) and that should happened in May 2020, but due to Covid 19 INZ suspended it till further notice. Our parent/grandparent visa extended till 25 th of September and now again till 25th of February 2021 and we hope in between to can apply for residency.
Since April 2022 we finally got our residency and live in beautiful Orewa and are pleased to do house-/petsittings again.
December 2023: notice: no housesittings in the moment because Annie is waiting for a knee replacement!
