Emily & Hugh

Hello!

We are couple from Cornwall (UK) travelling in New Zealand for a year, and we are keen to experience living in real communities in this beautiful country. We love outdoor activities (hiking, snorkelling, cycling and skiing) and have a passion for animals and wildlife conservation.

We understand the importance of keeping your home clean, safe, and well-maintained while you're away, and are committed to providing top-notch care for your property and pets.

A bit about us:
We have been together for over 9 years and have been lucky enough to travel in Europe, South America and now New Zealand!

Emily: I recently completed a biomedical research PhD and have also worked in education outreach. I spent my early years growing up in a sustainable farm community and my first job was working at a dog kennel. I've had the pleasure of owning several pets throughout my life, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even stick insects! Back in Cornwall I volunteered with a local wildlife conservation organisation.

Hugh: I grew up in sunny Cornwall, in a rural community surrounded by working farms. I studied biology with Emily but have since gone on to complete a Computer Science masters and I now work as a project manager for Natural England, which is the UK's version of New Zealand's Department of Conservation. Like Emily, I have had the pleasure of caring for a variety of animals as I've grown up and I've even done some work on farms handling cattle and sheep. I've also worked as a gardener, so I'm comfortable with any outdoor tasks.

We have a keen eye for detail and will take pride in keeping your home spotless and pets well cared for. We'll be highly responsive and keep you updated on your home and pets at all times and are happy to lend a hand in any other way like watering plants, tending gardens, collecting mail, and running errands – just let us know what you need help with! We understand that trust is an important factor when it comes to choosing a housesitter, and we are very happy to provide references upon request.
