favoriteWhy I love house sitting

I love that house sitting fits so well with my lifestyle. I get to explore new parts of NZ, spend time with animals, look after gardens, connect with lovely homeowners, all while working remotely. I've been house sitting for years now and I feel so grateful to have this opportunity.

I love animals, the ocean, nature, travelling, hiking, painting, writing and mindfulness.

I work remotely, so I have the flexibility to explore different parts of New Zealand while still having a good routine and plenty of time at home. And that’s where house and pet sitting comes in!

I work remotely, so I have the flexibility to explore different parts of New Zealand while still having a good routine and plenty of time at home. And that’s where house and pet sitting comes in!

Animals have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with a dog (black lab), two cats, birds and also fish. I used to volunteer on a farm in exchange for horse riding lessons. I absolutely loved it. I got to spend time with horses, cows, pigs, chickens, goats, rats and guinea pigs, so I’ve had experience with a pretty wide variety of animals over the years! I especially love horses and horse riding, but honestly, I’m yet to meet an animal I don't like. I love getting to know their personalities. Some animals want to be glued to you all day, some want a walk and a cuddle, and some are perfectly happy doing their own thing. I’m very happy to follow whatever routine works for them.

A bit about me: I walk every day and love surfing, being in the ocean, getting outside and exploring new places. Hiking and camping are also big hobbies of mine.
I also really love to take things slow and enjoy being in the garden and pottering around outside. I meditate or practice yoga daily and eat healthily. I like having a clean and tidy space at home, this is important for me when working from home too. My philosophy is that a tidy space makes for a tidy productive mind.

I’m am not someone who goes out and parties. I do not drink or smoke. I enjoy my quiet nights at home, cooking dinner, reading, studying or hanging out with animals.

I work from home, for a NZ tech company, which I think is one of the biggest perks for pets when I house sit. I’m around for most of the day, so your pets aren’t sitting at home alone for eight or nine hours while I’m at work. Which I know can make a big difference for animals who don't love being left alone. I can take dogs out for walks, give them company, let them outside, keep an eye on things and generally be around as part of their normal routine.

I’m very respectful of other people's spaces. I like keeping things clean and tidy and I’m very aware that when you’re trusting someone with your home, you want to know it’s going to be looked after. I clean up after myself, look after things and leave places in very good condition. I’m also happy to water plants, look after gardens, bring the mail in, put the bins out and do the usual little things that help keep a home running while you’re away.

I’m reliable and responsible. I’ll follow your pets' normal routines and listen to whatever instructions you leave me. If your dog needs a big daily walk, your cat likes breakfast at exactly 7am, I will make that part of my routine.

I’ll also keep you updated while you’re away if you like. I know it’s nice to get a photo or little message showing that your pets are happy and everything is going well. I want you to be able to go away and relax, knowing your pets are happy and your home is being looked after.
