The freedom and adventure of house sitting is hard to beat! Waking up in a new place, getting to know the local wildlife (furry and human), and exploring hidden gems in the neighborhood. Plus, the snug feeling of caring for someone's home and pets – it's like having a holiday with a purpose 😊.

I love exploring new places, walking, gardening, and keeping spaces tidy. I'm happy to help with pool maintenance and enjoy spending time with animals - especially cats, and dogs!

Pet care

I have mainly looked after cats and dogs in my local area but also have an annual sit in New Plymouth with 2 dogs and a cat.

I have had my own cats for 8 years. 1 was abandoned at less than a week old, so hand reared it and grew accustomed to travelling with me. I currently have a 16yr old Ridgeback cross, and a 5 month old labradoodle (my adult sons dog -will not be travelling with me).

I can highly recommend Joy as a house sitter. She is a confident, friendly woman and conversation was enjoyable and effortless. So much so that I left nearly 2 hours later than I was planning to. Joy looked after my elderly border collie as well as 12 chickens and 3 sheep for 3 days. When I returned home the animals were all alive and happy :-) My house was clean and the linen washed and hung on the line. The only issue we encountered was that Joy is on the One NZ network and I ... MoreI can highly recommend Joy as a house sitter. We were very fortunate to have Joy stay and care for our fur babies while we were away . Joy immediately bonded with our young , energetic kelpie and kept him well entertained playing his training games . She also looked after other family dogs when needed. It was a pleasure to meet Joy, we can highly recommend her as a caring, very competent house/ pet sitter and would welcome her back at any time .
Joy did a great job looking after my animals and home. It was lovely to have someone with mature experience. For the first time ever I had mice in the garage - Joy let me know and sorted it without issue. I also had some renovations going on at the time and she was happy to have them carry on in my absence. I can highly recommend Joy.
The animals were very well looked after. The house immaculate upon return. Joy could have communicated a little more while I was away about the fur babies otherwise great sitter.
