favoriteWhy we love house sitting

We have been pet/house sitting since Sept 2025 in BC and NZ, we loved meeting the pet parents and caring for the pets, home and gardens as if they were our own. We have looked after a variety of pets with different personalities. And loved getting to know different towns and cities in New Zealand.

My husband and I are a recently retired couple (2022) that are mature, quiet, reliable, and respectful. We do not smoke nor vape. Grant was a nurse and I was a HR representative before we retired. We both love to go for walks in any countryside or new cities and enjoy beaches too. Grant loves reading and exploring new areas with an E bike or his Jeep while I Cindy work with artsy crafty projects. We both love travelling and spend most winters in other countries.

For seven years, we operated a small farm with beef cattle, chickens, cats, rabbit, goats, sheep, and llamas. We are familiar with dogs and horses, but have not owned any recently.
We understand the need for families with animals to get away for holidays and to have the best care and love for their loved pets with no worries while they are away .
Since we are retired and now animal free ourselves, we hope to give that travel opportunity to other families that have pets . Plus allow ourselves to travel to new areas and look after and give loving care to other peoples loved pets/animals.We hope to gain the benefit of helping pet owners and the responsibility, interaction and companionship of their pets.
We have done some housesitting and pet sitting for our neighbours and are members of another House/pet sitters organization .
Our previous experience also included being an Airbnb host on our farm for six years with excellent reviews.

We have found that looking after a dog is a great way to get us out onto the local trails and explore the neighbourhoods with a furry companion.
And the cats we looked after all had unique personalities, with different needs. Some were elderly and needed medication and others were rambunctious younger ones.
Pets want attention and love so that's what we provide while the pet parent is away. Pet care is our top priority.
In our last visit to New Zealand we had a pet sit that we cared for cockatiels and Guinee pigs.
Also Cindy has cared for cockatiels as well and had her own aviary when she was younger.

We also raised chickens, goats, llamas and sheep. Our pets were three cats and one bunny, who thought he was a cat. We had a small garden and several fields to take care of. We loved our farm and all the work that went with it. And of course, our animals were our life. They were well loved and happy.
We often helped our neighbours with their farms when they were away on holiday. Which included taking care of horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and their home.

On our more recent sits in New Zealand, we cared for sheep, horses, cows, goats, pigs, chickens and ducks.

"Cindy and Grant looked after our wide variety of animals with much care and compassion. They maintained our homestead and veggie garden with a professional and knowledgeable approach that went well above and beyond our expectations. Their excellent communication was reassuring while we were overseas. It was wonderfully refreshing to come home to such a clean and well organized home. Would fully recommend Cindy and Grant as Trusted House Sitters to all my friends, family and neighbors."

Cindy and Grant are excellent house-sitters and it was so nice to come home to a clean house, happy gardens plus our Precious cat was happy. We appreciated all the photo's of Precious and communication with them while we were away. Nothing was too much trouble and they even left us a lot of food etc as they were leaving our country to go back home. Precious liked them and that was a big tick for us. We highly recommend them to other homeowners to take good care of everything while you are ... I think the stars say it all, such a lovely couple who took the best care of our property home and animals. We had a massive storm while we were away , they cleaned up a tree that came down and all the debris from the storm. Communicated most days as we have a special needs dog that they were so patient and considerate with. Feed the horses and took covers off and on depending on weather conditions and mucked out . Left the house immaculate - left a welcome home card , flowers and even restocked the fridge so we didn't need to get anything on our way home. We were so lucky to get Cindy and Grant to house sit for us.

Cindy and Grant were amazing house sitters. Their communication was excellent - nice updates but not too much - and they took really good care of our home and cat. They were flexible when needed and super helpful, and left the house spotless with some cute touches too. Would highly recommend!
They were the Perfect house sit match for our home and animals. Cindy and Grant made themselves at home, relaxed and easy going. Communication was excellent and we enjoyed the regular additions to the photo gallery. We would recommend Cindy and Grant for your future house sit journey. Ann and Mark
Grant and Cindy were so awesome, we came back to a spotless house, relaxed dogs and they even swept our courtyard which was well beyond what we expected. On the whole we found them to be very flexible, we had a major weather related incident the day before they arrived, but they were happy to deal with that; and we also had a comms issue on my behalf but once again Cindy and Grant were really flexible. We appreciated the photos they sent through of our pups thoroughly enjoying their time ... Thanks guys and best of luck with all the rest of your kiwi adventures.
