My professional background in emergency services as a NZ Police Investigator, NZ volunteer Fire Fighter, and a Surf Lifesaver, as well as experience on lifestyle blocks and farms, means that I'm confident and well equipped to keep your home, land and animals safe and happy. Choosing us means you can relax while away, knowing that any unexpected emergencies will be handled with calm, problem-solving confidence.

2. SPECIALISED ANIMAL CARE:
We adore all animals and have vast experience caring for all types, including shy and confident cats, all types and sizes of dogs, wild and farm animals and pets including sheep, cows, goats, pigs, chickens, emus, alpacas, and horses, as well as rabbits, reptiles, snakes, fish, and even spiders! We've had our own cats, dogs and chickens, and trained working dogs. My skills in Animal First Aid and special-needs support are useful for elderly, sick or injured animals, including deaf/blind pets, administering medication, and various behavioural needs.

3. COMPANIONSHIP AND FUN:
We provide lots of exercise, fun games and outdoor adventures for active pets, and gentle, loving care for shy ones. Jett is an animal whisperer - shy animals often take to him quickly enjoying cuddles and gentle play - surprising their owners. The active animals love Jett's playful yet mature energy - as reflected in our host reviews.

I can also provide dog training tips and support, having trained dogs before. You always receive lots of photos of their adventures.

4. GARDENS, PLANTS AND MAINTENANCE:
I'm passionate about gardening, plants and land care, having built and grown edible and permaculture gardens myself. I'm also experienced with pools, spas, irrigation, solar, gas and fireplace setups - so can take care of basic maintenance issues if they arise, saving you callout costs where possible.

We are skilled in using all gardening equipment including ride-on mowers, ATVs, 4WDs, tractors and motorbikes, to care for larger properties, and my license includes motorbikes, trucks, diggers and forklifts.

5. PROFESSIONAL AND CONSIDERATE:
We lead a clean, healthy, calm lifestyle (no drinking, smoking, drugs or guests) - we have our own van and mobile data. As previous home owners, we are very clean and tidy, and considerate of power and water use. We always leave your home spotless and smelling fresh - respecting that your home is your sanctuary.

With Jett's assistance, I've trained working dogs and managed numerous farms, hobby farms, and lifestyle blocks housing sheep, cows, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, emus, alpacas, peacocks, and ducks. I have also bred my own heritage chickens and built and grown my extensive no-dig edible organic and permaculture gardens and composting and worm systems.

I hold truck, digger, forklift, and motorbike licenses and operate manual 4WDs confidently. Both Jett and I are proficient with ride-on mowers and other garden and land care equipment. Our physical fitness and strength allow us to independently manage a variety of situations including any DIY problem-solving.

As an ex NZ Police Investigator I understand the importance of ensuring you choose the right person to keep your home and animals safe. I often suggest to hosts that they take ID details like a driver's license, of any house-sitter they confirm. The safety of your animals and home are paramount.

The other cat was treated like a king. There were no issues with the sheep or the horses. The lawns were kept mowed and tidy. The house was spotless. Karina and Jett were great house sitters. They looked after our house well and more importantly our 4 legged daughter, CoCo was in prime order, when we returned. They even took her on adventures with them, which was a real treat for her. We certainly would recommend them and they are very effective with responding to texts and emails. Karina and Jett bonded well with our fur family who clearly enjoyed having them around. The house was well cared for and they have set the garden up for a bountiful summer! I liked that they are experienced house sitters who had sensible suggestions for us as to what would make the process go smoothly for everyone. I was so glad I chose Karina and Jett. They took care of my house, plants and pets for a week, and the whole experience was smooth. Communication from Karina was crystal clear. They handled my bearded dragon confidently, bugs and all, which really impressed me. He was relaxed with them, which if you know dragons is a big compliment. They also kept my tropical fish fed and healthy and left the place tidier than when I left it. I returned to find everything exactly as I’d left it, all creatures ... Karina and Jett were just perfect! My dog Lucy is very old and deaf but she still loves walks and meeting new people. This dynamic duo sent me the most wonderful photos of Lucy having fun adventures while I was away which I just adored. Jett is a lovely, vibrant boy who gave Lucy lots of cuddles. Karina took very good care of my garden and indoor plants - she certainly has a green thumb. I came back (a little earlier) to a very clean home and a very happy dog who is now bouncing with new ... I was so worried about having a stranger in my home so I was relieved to get an update that everything was going well. Karina also messaged me some gorgeous photos of my pets having a great time while I was away which was fun to see. I highly recommend Karina as a house sitter to anyone.
