We are Matt and Ida and have been housesitting for a number of years and love to look after your animals so that you have peace of mind that they are in good care and get lots of attention. Between us we have been housesitting on and off for over 11 years and cared for pets with very high needs - e.g. a diabetic cat who needed to have twice daily injections, an elderly blind and deaf dog with epilepsy and anxiety requiring a lot of care ... We are Matt and Ida and have been housesitting for a number of years and love to look after your animals so that you have peace of mind that they are in good care and get lots of attention. Between us we have been housesitting on and off for over 11 years and cared for pets with very high needs - e.g. a diabetic cat who needed to have twice daily injections, an elderly blind and deaf dog with epilepsy and anxiety requiring a lot of care and attention during day and night. Our last sit involved caring for 5 foster cats and 4 domestic cats, experience with large powerful dogs, separation anxiety and a 3 legged dog.......the list goes on and on:)

We are both professionals and are able to work from home most of the time. We love spending time with dogs, cats, horses etc and are always very attentive. We also will always leave the property nice and tidy on your return and ensure that there is some bread and milk in the fridge.

Our hobbies include being out in nature, hiking, photography,, travelling, Ida is also a writer and artistic and Matt is a singer, singer, acoustic guitarist and pianist.

We have references which we can send via this site or email.

We hope to hear from you soon and would be happy to care for you treasured ones.

We have worked extensively on a farm in Matakana completing various tasks. Caring for animals included horses, ponies, alpacas, chickens, goats, white doves and a 25 year old talking cockatoo.

Ida has worked on a dairy farm as a calve rearer.

Matt and Ida, are lovley people and a pleasure to have house and animal/ farm sit for us. Their communication was excellent, and their attention to detail was impressive, noting things down that we had even missed. The animals (cat(1), sheep(31) cows(2) & horses(3)) we're well looked after and in good condition when we returned home. The house was left very clean and tidy, with a lovely bunch of flowers, cookies, and milk to warmly welcome us home. We would gladly have them back to look after ... Fabulous House sitters we are just so happy with how they cared for our elderly Schnauzer Tess. She formed a wonderful bond with Ida and Matt which was so obvious on our return. We would happily use them again. The house was left perfect and they left lovely flowers and some basic groceries to ease our arrival after a very long flight. We are so grateful!
We just got back from 2.5 weeks in Europe and we had an absolutely wonderful experience with Matt and Idaā€¦.I wanted to post this review as a token of our huge appreciation. I can only highly recommend Matt and Ida as house and pet sitters. We returned to a beautifully kept house and a happy cat. They kept us informed while we were away and were happy to accommodate a couple of our needs that came up with family. Always positive and easy to deal with. Highly recommend!

This is the third time Matt and Ida have house sat for us, and we are just as happy and pleased with everything they do, how they look after our animals and our house. They even watered the garden for us and then, they even left gifts for our dog Charlie and for us! Communication is always 10/10 with regular photos of the animals having cuddles or a good time at the beach. They are fantastic and I simply cannot recommend them highly enough. Thanks SO much!

Matt and Ida are lovely people, and they took great care of our cat and house. We were fortunate to meet both Matt and Ida when they arrived for the House sit. We arrived home to a spotless house, and the bed was made with fresh sheets. They even left some lovely gifts and some personalised art ... We were so pleased that Matt & Ida were available to look after our little hound while we took a long overdue vacation. It's been 5 years since we travelled without Honey, so it was important for us to find conscientious people to take care of her, especially since she is getting on in age and is not used to being without us, can be sensitive, and is a fussy eater. She seemed really comfortable with them, settled quickly, and they gave us great updates allowing us to enjoy our time away. We ... Matt and Ida were great with Tui and I really appreciated the updates and photos. They left the house very tidy and were quick to let me know if there were any issues. I am happy to recommend them and to have them back again.

Matt and Ida are the perfect pet sitters! Their communication was great since the beginning, sending us regular updates and photos of our cat, allowing us to relax over the holidays knowing that she was well looked after. We came back to a happy cat, a house that was more tidy and clean than when we left, and a lovely Christmas card to welcome us back. We highly recommend them and would definitely have them back to pet sit for us again.

Matt and Ida were fantastic house sitters, they looked after our dog Locky so well. The communication was amazing, the house was spotless and Locky was spoilt with plenty of walks, play time, attention and love. These two went above and beyond and I would hesitate to ask them again when we are away next. Thanks guys

We cannot recommend Ida enough! She took wonderful care of our foxy Buddy and five chickens for a long weekend and I so appreciated her warmth, clear communication and thoughtful questions to make sure our dog would be as comfortable with her as possible. Matt and Ida looked after our house and our two very precious furry friends for 4 weeks while we were abroad. Matt and Ida are nothing short of amazing! Their communication was 100% and they sent us photos and updates every single day. Charlie (our Labradoodle) had a fantastic time with lots of walks and trips to the beach - he was very spoilt. They even took Charlie to the vet for his conjunctivitis on two occasions. They spent quality time with both Charlie and our cat Dice. On our return, ... Matt & Ida were fantastic - they clearly care a lot about animals and took amazing care of our very excitable dog. Matt and Ida were respectful of our home and left everything in great condition. They looked after our two cats and dog very well, and provided photos on a regular basis for our peace of mind. We would have them stay again and recommend them fully.

Matt & Ida took great care of our cat and dog while we were on a 2 week holiday. They were very quick with their communication, and kept us up to date with how our pets were doing while we were away. The house was left in a tidy condition upon our return. Our dog is looking forward to the next time Matt & Ida can house sit for us!

Another fantastic Housesit from Matt and Ida!! My home was beautifully looked after, my Dog was just loves them both and being the second housesit it was really easy!! Highly recommend Matt and Ida for taking fabulous care of what is most precious!! The only down side is that they are getting booked up really quickly so best to book this fabulous couple quickly!!

Matt & Ida are a lovely couple who looked after our house and animals for 11 days while we were on holiday. They did a stirling job caring for our 4 cats (certificate in cat wrangling needed! :-)) and our horses, sheep and chickens. They followed instructions, sent regular updates and always asked us before using anything. We can definitely vouch for them as great house sitters.

Matt and Ida were just wonderful. My Simba was so happy, content and well cared for! He formed a close bond with them and dont think he missed me in the slightest. My home was immaculate on my return and communication was great. Highly recommend Matt and Ida for your housesit and hope that they are free, if I need to head away in the future.

Matt and Ida house sat for me for 3 weeks and looked after my elderly dog, Ella. Ella needed some special care with medication and observing to see if she was in pain with her arthritis. They looked after her exceptionally well and when I got home she was well and happy. The house was clean and looked after and communication was great while I was away. I was very happy with the house sit and dog care from Matt and Ida.
Was our first time using house sitters to care for our 2 much loved fur babies whilst away on a cruise... Matt and Ida were perfect . They took the time to come & introduce themselves. - which was very reassuring. Communication, photos was fantastic and gave me such peace of mind. - I doubt my cats even missed me šŸ‘ House was clean & tidy & we were very pleased & grateful for the service. Would not hesitate to use them again. Much appreciated.
Excellent communication and updates whilst I was away. Dog Benji seemed happy and healthy and the house was very clean and tidy on my return. No hesitation in recommending Matt and Ida and will ask them to come and stay again.
It was a great housesit looking after Benjie - such a cute gorgeous dog. Sue was great with communication and was so nice to stay in her beautiful home. Great written instructions. Would definitely love to look after Benjie again. Thanks again Sue:)
Matt and Ida were incredible and very professional. They took our pups on the best adventures and send us photos along the way. I know our pups had the best time! They were great at communicating with us throughout the long stay. Our house and lawn looked great when we got back. We have a big lawn to mow, so it wasn't a small feat. We will definitely be in touch with them again when we need pet/house sitters.
Matt and Ida looked after our home and our little dog (Kai) whilst we were overseas. They looked after Kai exceptionally and provided regular updates and photos. We felt at ease when we where away.
