We need a house sitter

Manawatu-Wanganui - Wanganui

Pamela

The most important thing is caring for our kitties. We are looking for a genuine cat-loving person (or couple) to stay at our home and care for our four fur-babies. Our ideal sitter genuinely loves cats and will cuddle them, spend time (play) with them, and feed them twice a day. The kitties are in and out during the day, so ideally it would suit someone who is intending to spend time at home and would be willing to play with them frequently. Our kitties are rescue pets, so can be a little jittery, but are very loving once they trust you.

We round them up to come inside from dinner time every night (which is around 5pm in the winter), and they sleep inside until early morning. The three younger ones need to be called (occasionally coaxed) inside at evening meal time so that they are not outside at night. Our older cat is free to come and go - his microchip lets him use the cat door at any time. We also need you to spend about 15 minutes every second day watering the garden and the hanging baskets. And, of course, we need you to care for our home, and leave it in the same clean and tidy state that you found it in.

Our home is a modest, quirky, but cute and comfy, cottage at a charming beach just north of Whanganui. We are in various stages of renovating and redecorating, so it's not picture-perfect. There is a great view from our deck, and we also have a peaceful garden courtyard. We have a lovely Metro fireplace, which makes the house cosy in the winter. The cottage has lovely views of the beach, which is just a two-minute walk away. The beach itself is popular for walking, swimming (Coastguard supervision over summer only), fishing and horse-riding.

It's a short 15-minute drive from our place to the centre of Whanganui. Ideally, you would need a car as there is no public transport between the town and beach. Car rental can be arranged locally for NZ$50/day. There are fantastic lakes, walks and parks in and around Whanganui, and plenty of fabulous cafes. There is an active arts community, with galleries and working studios.
