We need a house sitter

Manawatu-Wanganui - Wanganui

We are looking for a genuine cat-loving person (or couple) to stay at our home and care for our four fur-babies. The kitties are mostly outside during the day, though they love to check-in throughout the day, and they love to have regular play times. We round them up to come inside from dinner time every night (which is around 5pm in the winter), and they sleep inside until early morning. Our kitties are rescue pets, so can be a little jittery, but are very loving once they trust you. We are looking for someone who really loves cats and would enjoy spending time at home hanging out with them.

The most important thing is caring for our kitties. We need someone who genuinely loves cats and who will cuddle them, spend time (play) with them, and feed them twice a day. The three younger ones need to be called (sometimes coaxed) inside at evening meal time so that they are not outside at night. Our older cat is free to come and go - his microchip lets him use the cat door at any time. We also need you to spend about 15 minutes every second day watering the garden and the hanging baskets. And, of course, we need you to care for our home, and leave it in the same clean and tidy state that you found it in.

Our home is a modest, quirky, but cute and comfy, cottage at a charming beach just north of Whanganui. We are in various stages of renovating and redecorating, so it's not picture-perfect. There is a great view from our deck, and we also have a peaceful garden courtyard. We have a lovely Metro fireplace, which is very cosy in the winter. The cottage has lovely views of the beach, which is just a two-minute walk away. The beach itself is popular for walking, swimming (Coastguard supervision over summer only), fishing and horse-riding.

It's a short 15-minute drive to the centre of Whanganui (you may need a car as there is no public transport). Car rental can be arranged locally for NZ$50/day. There are fantastic lakes, walks and parks in and around Whanganui, and plenty of fabulous cafes. There is an active arts community, with galleries and working studios.
