FARMSITS * LIFESTYLE BLOCKS * HOUSESITS

About us...
We are a responsible and hard working, non-smoking couple who have been farm/house-sitting on and off over many years. We now do so on a full time basis combined with wwoofing to learn more about rural and sustainable living. (wwoofing = willing workers on organic farms. Please contact us for a link to see our profile and feedback.)

After a few challenging years in Christchurch due to the earthquakes, we decided to leave our corporate lives and travel around this beautiful country for awhile to see how other Kiwis live, and ultimately find a new way of life. We decided to house sit on a full time basis to help us do that, which has been hugely rewarding and very interesting.

Until recently, we always owned our own home and have always held very high standards for home presentation and maintenance.

We pride ourselves on caring for other people's homes like our own. We make sure you come back from holiday relaxed knowing your home will be clean and tidy, and that your pets/animals have been loved and well cared for.

We have always been animal lovers and really enjoy having dogs and cats around to care for and play with. We make sure they get plenty of cuddles and attention while you are away.

We are diligent with your instructions to ensure your pets remain in their usual routine, including exercise schedules and feeding times. We find this helps to minimise their disruption while you are away.

We take our job of housesitting seriously and see your pets and animals as our number one priority. This means that we spend most of our time at your home playing with your pets, and tend to only go out once or twice a week for 2-3 hours at a time.

We are very resourceful people and are always attentive to animals in our care. We are also very active, so enjoy taking dogs for regular walks and would be happy to undertake some household chores like tidying, window cleaning, gardening, etc. In the past we have agreed to undertaken many additional jobs such as painting, wood staining, waterblasting, gutter clearing, spring cleaning, weedeating and seasonal garden jobs, which we are happy to discuss if this interests you.

We have also cared for Airbnb accommodation on behalf of homeowners to keep their business ticking along seamlessly and professionally in their absence. We do charge an additional fee for this service.

As farmsitters, we have taken care of a wide range of animals including chickens, ducks, sheep, cows, pigs, ostriches, goats and horses. We have been involved in lambing season and helped animals when they are sick or do silly things - like get themselves trapped in fences, etc. We are not farming experts, but we understand basics like irrigation systems, moving stock, electric fencing, fixing fences, operating quad bikes, etc and enjoy the challenge of caring for different animals in a rural environment. We do charge a small negotiable fee for farmsits to reflect the additional responsibility and extra work needed.

We would love to take care of your home, give you peace of mind, and know that your pets and animals are safe and sound while you relax on your break.

No rating Caroline and Neil house and pet-sat for us while we were overseas for 6 weeks. They treated the animals as their own and gave exception care to our elderly spoodle, taking her to the vet and giving her daily medication. We received a weekly update on everything and upon our return we found very happy animals and an immaculate house. We would definitely use them again and wish them well on their adventures.
ANNA (Waimauku North Island, Jun 2018 - 4 weeks)
Caroline and Neil are exceptional people and amazing house sitters. We knew instantly when we meet them both we could leave our home and animals knowing they would be well looked after. I cannot say enough thanks to them, the love and care they gave our crazy cats and helping our handicapped pony. They had the place immaculate and it was such a pleasure coming home with no worries at all. I absolutely have no hesitation in recommending Caroline and Neil and look forward to their return in the ... MORE

Wow, thanks for the awesome review! It was a real pleasure to housesit for you, and we are already looking forward to the next time :)
Caroline and Neil were the best. We came home to a very clean and tidy house and our two cats were very contented. Their communication was very good. We are very dissappointed that they cannot sit for us this year but someone else will be very happy and lucky to have this couple.

MURRAY (Orewa North Island, Aug 2018 - 4 weeks)
No rating Caroline and Neil, we can't say enough good things about them. They were the perfect housesitters for the 6 weeks we were away. They were very professional about it all from Day 1, walking in with a notepad, ready to jot down notes. We got regular emails about how things were going. They not only looked after our inner city house, large garden, cats, ducks and chickens, but also a 4.5Ha block complete with goats, donkey, horses, rabbits, beefies. Nothing seemed to phase them, and they even ... MORE
RHYS MASTERS AND DIANA WYNYARD. (New Plymouth Central North Island, Jul 2017 - 1 month 2 weeks)
No rating Carolyn and Neil have just recently finished a housesit for us while we were away for a month in Africa. I don't know where to start as they were fantastic in every way not only looking after our animals but also the extra things they did like cleaning both my husbands and my cars inside and out, cleaning windows and ridding thistles in our paddocks which was over and above what we wanted. They were very respectful of our home and looked after our animals perfectly I would totally recommend ... MORE

No rating To whom it may concern, House sitting reference - Caroline and Neil Bolton Caroline and Neil house sat for us in May 2016 for 11 days. They looked after our house and 1 acre, we have 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 kune kune pigs, sheep, goat and chickens. One of our dogs is very old and we were nervous about leaving him so when Caroline and Neil arrived the day before to met us and our animals they put our mind at ease as they are very easy going, kind and caring and gave so much attention to our ... No rating We found out about housesitters.co.nz through my Mum as we were heading away and needed a house and dog/cat sitter for three weeks. We found Caroline and Neil's profile and sent a message. We weren't sure what we were in for but wow were we lucky! The communication was amazing from the start and we instantly felt comfortable with the choice we had made. The way things worked we got to spend a bit of time with Caroline and Neil before we headed off and for us it just clicked. It was like we ... MORE
JESS AND NIGE (Holmes Hill , Mar 2016)
No rating Caroline and Neil did a superb job of looking after our horses, dogs, cats, chickens, house and garden. The house was immaculate when we arrived home. They are very good easy company also, I can't recommend them enough.
