Update 2024: for the first half of the year we are housesitting in the Wellington region before heading further afield.
We are Frances and Stephen, a couple in our early 60's who have semi-retired to Alexandra. Our plan was to travel overseas, however like for many others that is obviously now on hold so hope to travel around NZ more. We have completed over 40 housesits with all 5 star reviews, through another very popular website which we can send you a link to - we have looked after dogs, cats, chickens and horses. Our reviews all comment on how happy pets were with us and homes left immaculate.
About us.
We have 3 grown up children, who after being scattered around the world are now all living back in Wellington. Frances is a teacher, before coming down to Alexandra was HOD Mathematics (everyone's favourite subject) at Wellington Girls' College and now takes on various long term and day relieving positions around the country. Stephen previously worked for Ministry of Defense ( ex RAF) and now works as an advocate for Pacific seasonal workers. We are happy to consider most areas of N Z and can guarantee your home and pets would be well cared for.
Frances was amazing! This was my first time having a house sitter and she made the process so easy, the communication was great, and my dog Frank had the best time. Would highly recommend.
It is with pleasure that I post a 5 star review for Frances and Stephen. This was the 1st time we have used a house sitter that we didn't know personally, but we have been very pleased with the results. We couldn't have asked for anymore. Frances has been an amazing house and pet sitter during our time overseas. Communication with her was easy and clear from the very start and throughout her stay. Our cat Billy clearly enjoyed her company which we could tell from the regular photos she sent. Frances looked after our home, cat and the many house plants for five weeks while we were overseas. She was AMAZING. We couldn’t have hoped for a better house sitter. Frances was excellent. She communicated well and sent me updates and photos of my two cats every couple of days. My house was sparkling clean when I got home and my lawn was even mowed very neatly, even though I did not specifically ask for it to be done. My cats were both relaxed when I got home. Frances was fabulous to deal with and took very good care of our pets and our place while we were away. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be happy to have her come house sit again.
Frances was a wonderful sitter - She was very communicative, and took great care of Whiskey, keeping me well updated along the trip. She kept the house very neat and tidy, it was fantastic to come home to a happy boy and a clean house. Would definitely have Frances housesit for me again!
This was our first experience with Kiwi Housesitters and we were most grateful to Frances and Steve for answering all our queries and taking good care of our retriever Finn. Communication was excellent and it was lovely to come back to our house to find it in top condition and a happy dog.

Frances was an excellent house sitter. The house was pristine when I came home. Soleil, my elderly cat , was happy, groomed and well fed and had obviously found a new friend.. Later, I discovered that a drooping curtain I'd been meaning to fix was was fixed and a patch of garden weeded neither part of the sitting contract but, never-the-less much appreciated. Frances has an undoubted eye for detail. I do not hesitate in recommending her as an excellent house/pet sitter for other users
We enjoyed having Frances and Stephen look after our house and pets. The pets were happy and the house was spotless. We would happily have them house sit again.
Frances and Stephen are a lovely couple who took excellent care of our 2 cats . They sent a txt message with picture every couple of days. I can always tell how contented the cats are by the amount of food they eat and they wolfed down a goodly quantity while we were away.
There was an issue with a water tank while we were away which they dealt with promptly
The house was spotless when we returned home. All house plants had been watered.
