Shipshape sitter

72, Retired charter boat Skipper/Artist

I am a retired Kiwi returned from 39 years in Australia running 'top end' charter boats on the Great Barrier Reef running from Cairns, Bloomfield Lodge, Port Douglas, Dunk Island then running my own limousines from the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, and a second hand shop on the side !
Married > Divorced.
I have returned home to NZ to retire here, I have bought a small van (with fishing rod selection) and intend to travel visiting family, and Housesit when I can. My family used to have the Seaview Cattery (photo of feeding) in Wellington and we also had pet dogs, chooks, guinea fowls, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits, a sheep a penguin and even a weasel and a possum, in the past.
I'm in pretty good condition having worked physically hard all my life (logging, commercial cleaning and construction before running away to sea in Bay of Islands in 1976 went to Australia in 1978)
Have a good sense of humour and responsibility, I am tidy ! !
A non smoker and like gardening, but not horticultural expert,
I missed pets and gardens on boats over the years. Now pursuing new adventure as Painter, NOT HOUSES! :-)
Current limited contact occasionally due to bad reception in some rural sits in areas with limited phone (so email or website is cool and guaranteed) OR whilst I'm driving in the 'Captains Capsule' through time and space. . . . ........ STILL Love being home. Cheers.

Ian looked after our place including cats, chickens, ducks and cattle for a few days, and all went very well. Communication was great and we felt at ease being away.

Ian was such a pleasure to have in our home. He kept me updated throughout his stay about the pets. All the animals were so relaxed around him, even the nervous cat decided he was awesome and cuddled on the couch. The house was left clean and he even left me a beautiful piece of art he drew on my wall! My kids loved it too! I would have you back to stay anytime Ian!

Jessica was still in the throes of moving in! ;-) The 'tangle of Pugs was a delight to look after (energetic!) And the cat was cool, enjoyed a bit of grooming. Delightful situation, close to shops etc. I would go again😁
Seeing Oscar (our Griffon cross) sitting at the window watching Ian drive away said a lot. Also Princess our rag doll cat who normally very shy of strangers accepted Ian from our first meeting and became best friends while we were away for two months. He sent us regular communication and photos . We are very appreciative of the way he handle the demise of our much loved Floyd. We would recommend Ian and thank him for care and attention he gave to our large much loved furry family

I would definitely rec0mmend Ian to house sit any one with animals. He has a quiet manner, and the animals respond really well to that. He made a real friend with Freddie, our younger dog, to the point of when he went, Freddie was quite lost. He kept us informed almost daily, as to what was happening. In fact, he got well known around our neighborhood, whilst walking the dogs. The dogs were to be the top priority, and they certainly were with him.

No rating Ian did a fantastic job of looking after our place. Came home to a very tidy house and very happy pets. Our Jack Russell now sits in the spare bedroom looking for Ian! Once we met Ian we had a worry free holiday knowing that our home and animals were all OK and being pampered. We look forward to the next time Ian comes to stay and would highly recommend him.

No rating Ian was very caring to our animals during his stay in our home. We received regular photo updates and were sure the animals were in great hands. We had the feeling they didn't want us back! The house and garden were well cared for and we were really happy to have Ian stay in our home.

The best part of having Ian house sit was that the whole time we were away we felt relaxed knowing that he was taking great care of our dogs. We had absolute trust in him and Haana and Boss loved his company. He also gave us updates and photos of the dogs.
