Aimee & Diego

We are a Spiwi family—Diego (Spanish), Aimee (Kiwi), and Leo (a delightful mix)—known for being quiet, clean, tidy, and responsible. We have extensive experience looking after our own and others' houses, pets, animals, and gardens. Aimee's expertise spans a wide range of animals including dogs, cats, horses, sheep, and cattle, while Diego specialises in lawn care, gardens, and general house maintenance.

Both of us have robust academic backgrounds. Aimee holds a Master of Science in Botany, currently working at the University of Otago and preparing her proposal to start her PhD in early 2025. Diego has a BSc in Biology from Spain and Norway, along with Master's degrees in Ecology and Secondary School Education. Recently, our careers have led us to roles at various botanical, ecological, and environmental institutes, departments, and consultancies, as well as in secondary education. Diego works remotely as a Science teacher for a prestigious international online secondary school.

We own a home in Dunedin, so house-sitting for us is a way to make friends in different parts of New Zealand with house owners, providing our son with diverse experiences, and caring for houses and animals while spending quality family time exploring new locations. Since falling in love with house-sitting in 2015, it has become a significant part of our lives, especially now that we can work remotely for extended periods. A good internet connection is vital for us, but rest assured, this means we will mostly be at your property, ensuring everything is well-maintained—from the house and gardens to the animals.

We are comfortable in all types of environments and cherish the opportunity to keep animals fit, fed, and healthy and maintain a clean house.
