Maturity, respect and heaps of kindness

59, Newly retired professional

Hi, my name is Mark, I am 59 years old and I am hoping that I may well be your perfect housesitter. I am a family man who is honest, kind and trustworthy with a quiet and calm disposition that cats and dogs seem to love.

I am married to my lovely wife Jane and we have a teenage daughter. We share our lives with two gorgeous rescue cats - and as a result of their health conditions I am used to administering meds and making frequent vet visits. We are home owners and have been living in our much-loved house in Kent, England for the past 12 years.

I retired last August (as Head of Dealing at an investment management company called Santander Asset Management Limited) where I was a well-respected senior figure in the City of London. I was (apparently) particularly known for my old-fashioned values of honesty, reliability, integrity and trustworthiness. I always dedicate myself 100% to anything I do and I pride myself on my ability to see things through to their successful completion.

Twelve months ago we secured NZ residency visas through one of INZ's investment programmes (and during this process went through rigorous police checks/medicals/due diligence). We hope to be in a position to move to NZ as a family later this year after my daughter completes her Cambridge GCSE exams in June ('O' Levels back in my day). Meanwhile, as one of my visa conditions states that I must spend at least 438 days in New Zealand in aggregate over a multi-year period, I will be visiting, travelling around and experiencing some of your beautiful country which will also help us to decide where we will live. Hence, my keen interest in housesitting.

I think I would be ideal as your housesitter - I have ample time to dedicate to your pets and home. After more than 40 years of long office days I am looking forward to long walks and lots of reading - both of which work well with caring for cats and dogs and for keeping them company. I am a quiet, kind and calm individual by nature, very reliable and honest and have had the pleasure of keeping pets for my entire life. I would treat your home with the utmost respect as I do my own. I am a very clean and tidy person.

I would be happy to water your plants and undertake other household duties as required and I would be delighted to send you texts/emails/Messenger updates along with photos and videos of your pets during my stay if you would like me to do so. We have enjoyed some marvellous holidays ourselves over the years and I understand the worries of leaving loved pets behind to be cared for. Rest assured that I would respect your home, your rules and especially your pets and their needs.

I am a non-smoker (and have never smoked). Please contact me if you have any questions or would like any other information. I look forward to hearing from you.

"Over the years Mark has cared for our cats and dogs (on a non-formal basis) when we have been away - always making a great fuss of them and ensuring their needs are fully met. Mark is also exceptionally clean and tidy - leaving our home as spick and span as he found it.

Mark has a quiet disposition but is highly intelligent and would undoubtedly treat other peoples' homes with the same respect and care that he affords to his own family home

We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending that others chose Mark to look after their pets and home."

"I am the proprietor of a successful dog walking company operating in Kent, England ("Ryarsh Dog Walking Services") and have known Mark Winter for over 20 years. He is a loyal and trustworthy friend.

Mark has been volunteering with my company recently. He has undertaken this role in order to assist me (now that he has retired) whilst I have been particularly busy over the summer period but also to ensure that he can give the best service possible whilst he is housesitting at homes with pets in the future.

I would not hesitate to recommend Mark for any housesitting position and particularly those which require the care of beloved pets - they would certainly be in very safe and caring hands."

Outstanding. We can not recommend Mark highly enough. Right from the initial contact we were confident Mark was the right choice to look after our cottage and beloved Burmese. It was the most relaxed we have ever been whilst away knowing that Marks confidence, common sense, attention to detail and kind, loving nature had everything taken care of at home. For him, it is more than going through the motions of care and duty, Mark has a real passion, respect and responsibility that he takes ... MORE

We left our house and dog with Mark for two months while we went overseas. We were very secure in the knowledge that they were both well looked after and we have no hesitation recommending him. Mark sent us regular updates, anecdotes and photos of Vinnie. He walked him in many different and interesting places. When we returned he was happy and healthy! I am pretty sure he did not miss us at all, as he was given so much attention and love. On our return the lawns had been mowed and Mark ... MORE

What can we say about Mark our recent house sitter? his meticulous organisational and fundamental caring attitude gives him top marks! Our home and more importantly (for us) our pets and animals were very well looked after and cared for. His communications gave us such comfort that we were able to relax completely knowing all was well at home. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending him for further house sits. Thanks Mark your a Star!

BARBARA (Pahoia Nr Tauranga and Katikati North Island, Mar 2019 - 2 weeks 2 days)
Mark is an amazing house sitter, 10 stars, he was available to meet before the sit to go over details of care, easy to communicate with, organised, took great care of my cat and property, enjoyed the locality and neighbours, and was interested in finding out a lot about where he was staying. I would highly recommend him for any house sit.

Mark was an outstanding housesitter who I would unreservedly recommend to anyone. He's super organised, very dependable and took superb care of both my little dog and my house. Actually I think it was cleaner when we got back than when we left. Highly recommended

We found Mark to be the best house sitter ever as he had no problems with our animals and the care to our property. We would not hesitate to have Mark house sit for us in the future, if he was available ( I think that he would be in high demand ) We wish him well with his tour around N.Z. Robyn & Richard

Geoff and I, and of course Monty and Benji, were extremely fortunate to have Mark as housitter whilst we were away for a week. His attention to detail, the concern for the boys' routine being adhered to and his care for our home, was amazing. We couldn't have wished for anyone better. I hope we are fortunate enough to be able to use him again and of course cannot recommend Mark highly enough to other homeowners.

Mark has been a fabulous house and pet-sitter for us over the last 2 weeks. We came home to happy pets and livestock and a beautifully clean house. During our time away Mark kept us up to date with happenings around the home and photos of our pets. We highly recommend Mark as a sitter and will keep in touch as friends.

Mark came and looked after my home but more importantly to me, my lovely boy Max, he has recently lost his best puss friend so needed a lot of attention. Mark has been absolutely wonderful with him and they have become great pals judging by the photos I have received :-)) Mark also has taken great care with all my newly planted pots and hanging baskets (there are a lot). He has done a tremendous job and has handed Maxi and the house over to my next sitter Liz, I highly recommend Mark to anyone ... MORE

Mark house sat for us for 3,5 weeks while we were on holiday. He looked after our doggy, two bunnies, house and plants. We met beforehand and were very impressed about the questions he asked and how prepared he came for the meet up....he even had doggy treats in his pocket! He sent us detailed updates and photos more than once a week, showing us all the fun things he and our doggy did together, from long walks to dog friendly coffee shops. We came home to a very tidy and clean ... MORE

I have just spent a very relaxing holiday overseas. A major contribution to that was the knowledge that I had Mark taking care of the family pet and good care of my home. I was reassured that home and pet were fine by regular communications from Mark while away. On my return I found my home to be in spotless condition, my garden watered and Holly walked, watered and well fed. A very happy dog. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mark to house sit if asked.
