Maturity, respect and heaps of kindness
59, Newly retired professional
Hi, my name is Mark, I am 59 years old and I am hoping that I may well be your perfect housesitter. I am a family man who is honest, kind and trustworthy with a quiet and calm disposition that cats and dogs seem to love.
I am married to my lovely wife Jane and we have a teenage daughter. We share our lives with two gorgeous rescue cats - and as a result of their health conditions I am used to administering meds and making frequent vet visits. We are home owners and have been living in our much-loved house in Kent, England for the past 12 years.
I retired last August (as Head of Dealing at an investment management company called Santander Asset Management Limited) where I was a well-respected senior figure in the City of London. I was (apparently) particularly known for my old-fashioned values of honesty, reliability, integrity and trustworthiness. I always dedicate myself 100% to anything I do and I pride myself on my ability to see things through to their successful completion.
Twelve months ago we secured NZ residency visas through one of INZ's investment programmes (and during this process went through rigorous police checks/medicals/due diligence). We hope to be in a position to move to NZ as a family later this year after my daughter completes her Cambridge GCSE exams in June ('O' Levels back in my day). Meanwhile, as one of my visa conditions states that I must spend at least 438 days in New Zealand in aggregate over a multi-year period, I will be visiting, travelling around and experiencing some of your beautiful country which will also help us to decide where we will live. Hence, my keen interest in housesitting.
I think I would be ideal as your housesitter - I have ample time to dedicate to your pets and home. After more than 40 years of long office days I am looking forward to long walks and lots of reading - both of which work well with caring for cats and dogs and for keeping them company. I am a quiet, kind and calm individual by nature, very reliable and honest and have had the pleasure of keeping pets for my entire life. I would treat your home with the utmost respect as I do my own. I am a very clean and tidy person.
I would be happy to water your plants and undertake other household duties as required and I would be delighted to send you texts/emails/Messenger updates along with photos and videos of your pets during my stay if you would like me to do so. We have enjoyed some marvellous holidays ourselves over the years and I understand the worries of leaving loved pets behind to be cared for. Rest assured that I would respect your home, your rules and especially your pets and their needs.
I am a non-smoker (and have never smoked). Please contact me if you have any questions or would like any other information. I look forward to hearing from you.
"Over the years Mark has cared for our cats and dogs (on a non-formal basis) when we have been away - always making a great fuss of them and ensuring their needs are fully met. Mark is also exceptionally clean and tidy - leaving our home as spick and span as he found it.
Mark has a quiet disposition but is highly intelligent and would undoubtedly treat other peoples' homes with the same respect and care that he affords to his own family home
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending that others chose Mark to look after their pets and home."

"I am the proprietor of a successful dog walking company operating in Kent, England ("Ryarsh Dog Walking Services") and have known Mark Winter for over 20 years. He is a loyal and trustworthy friend.
Mark has been volunteering with my company recently. He has undertaken this role in order to assist me (now that he has retired) whilst I have been particularly busy over the summer period but also to ensure that he can give the best service possible whilst he is housesitting at homes with pets in the future.
I would not hesitate to recommend Mark for any housesitting position and particularly those which require the care of beloved pets - they would certainly be in very safe and caring hands."
