Hello! :) We are Lauren & Fiachra - a couple from the UK & Ireland currently on a journey exploring New Zealand!

We are a reliable, trustworthy and organised couple who work hard and like to keep things clean and tidy. We are non-smokers. Both of us have previous experience of taking care of animals and homes.

ABOUT US

Fiachra is originally from Dublin, Ireland however moved with his family to the countryside at a young age. He is very creative and skilled in animation, music and illustration among other endeavours. He is very handy with DIY/fixing things, gardening and cooking.

Lauren grew up in the suburbs of Preston, a small city in Lancashire in England. Lauren is an aspiring writer and has a little travel blog which she is hoping to get time to work on more. She is also a qualified English teacher and teaches lessons online on a flexible schedule.

In our spare time we both love travel, good food, watching movies and reading books, and enjoying nature through swimming, hiking and camping.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Both of us have lots of experience (and love!) taking care of animals. We have both had pet cats, dogs, fish and chickens.

We have experience of taking care of homes and animals in New Zealand, as well as family and friends homes and pets too!

While living in Edinburgh for 4 years, Lauren was a cat sitter in the local neighbourhood and really enjoyed looking after pets and taking care of homes/plants while the owners were away.

As Fiachra grew up in the countryside he is familiar with work on farms. Lauren was a keen horse rider in her younger years and regularly volunteered at the stables/farms so isn't afraid of getting her hands dirty either! Lauren also volunteered for 2 weeks at an organic farm in the far north of Scotland, brashing trees, herding sheep and weeding, clearing and fertilising a polytunnel, amongst other jobs!

WHY WE WANT TO HOUSE SIT

We have decided that house sitting would be a great option for us to help people out in taking care of their homes/pets while they are away.

We would be glad to make sure that your home and pets are well cared for and respected so you do not need to worry while you are away from home.

We will make sure to keep you updated with photos and messages during our stay to put you at ease.

It also helps us that we have somewhere to stay while we are traveling, we can enjoy taking care of your wonderful homes/pets (we love animals!) and (hopefully) we can get a little bit of work on our laptops done while we are at it!

OUR PLANS IN NEW ZEALAND

We arrived to this beautiful place in March 2020 and we plan to be here for 1 year until March 2021 (and maybe more!). After 4 years of living/traveling/working in Scotland, we have come to New Zealand on working holiday visas.

We plan to move all around New Zealand to discover lots of new things along the way. Our schedule is very flexible at the moment. So we could be close to you very soon!

Fiachra & Lauren were wonderful house sitters and I can't recommend them enough. They took really good care of our house and cats and kept us up to date to ensure that we knew that everything was ok. They were also very flexible when we ended up being away for longer than expected due to the Auckland lock down. Highly recommended :)

Could not be happier with our first experience with Kiwi Housesitters. Lauren and Fiachra did the most amazing job and kept in touch with me the whole time. I think my animals had so much fun with them that my cat looked distinctly unimpressed at my return. I can't recommend Lauren and Fiachra enough, you won't go wrong having them look after your place.

Fiachra and Lauren were the perfect housesitters. They came around to do the handover the day before we left, and we found them both very likeable and engaging. During our time away, they looked after our cat beautifully, and played with him - the photos they sent put our minds at rest, and we came back to a very relaxed cat. They contacted us regarding security questions and weather damage in the garden. The house was beautifully clean and the lawns mowed. :-) We couldn't have asked for more! ... MORE
