Conscientious & caring - DBS checks

54, Media

46, Technician

Hello there, we are caring and conscientious pet and house sitters. We can provide excellent references from home and pet owners, having done short and long term sits. We have looked after a variety of dogs and cats as well as caring for a few pet sheep and chickens.

We are both fully vaccinated.

Without giving any identifying or important information away, we wouuld be grateful if you could please supply some photos of the interior so we have a sense of where we could be living as well as photos of your lovely animal companions.

Homes have been maintained to a high standard, including those of HNW individuals. Gardening and mowing can also be done if required. Andy is an excellent handyman and can maintain and fix things if required.

The love we give pets as well as consistent communication with their owners (such as daily updates / videos etc.), have made us popular pet sitters, with people asking us to do repeat sits.

We have also done pet and husesits via another website so the ones on here do not show the full extent of our experience / reviews..

We recently arrived back in Aotearoa from England where we've lived for the last four years. We have a house in Khandallah, Wellington and until we can move back in during January we are looking to do pet and housesits, preferably more than a week in duration.

We have current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks from the UK which can provide extra peace of mind.

Looking after and providing pets with affection is rewarding and a responsibility we take very seriously. We are comfortable giving injections or tablets to animals, having done so during sits.

A variety of furballs have been cared for during our pet sits including nervous rescue cats, pure breeds (including Persians requiring daily combing); a diabetic ginger needing twice-daily injections etc., all while providing food, grooming, attention and affection. It is rewarding when cats learn to trust us, let their guard down and jump onto our lap (or settle near us on the couch if not a 'lap cat').

Dogs instinctively respond very positively and want to engage with us. We're both gentle-natured and they can tell we are not a threat. We love connecting with dogs, taking them for walks (or runs on their part if they can be let off their lead!), helping them let off steam, as well as playing and bonding with them. It's rewarding to gain theirs, and any animal's trust and affection. Dogs' energy, inherently loving nature, and unrelenting optimism is infectious.

Andy: Growing up I had a fox terrier called Sandy. That's where my love of dogs started. I like their companionship and affectionate nature. I had a cat of my own called Bo (a rescue cat) which helped me develop a strong connection with cats.

Laura: I've had two cats as an adult and one growing up so are very familiar with their behaviours and needs. No two cats have similar natures and I enjoy the challenge of finding out how to successfully ingratiate myself with them!

Reassurance that your home and pets are being cared for is important and we always send owners updates via email or WhatsApp, with photos and videos. We can do that daily or regularly, whatever gives you peace of mind.

July 2020 - April 2021: We did a housesit in Buckinghamshire which started at the beginning of July and lasted for 10 months, the owners were in New Zealand and could not leave the country due to Covid. They had a large section and we undertook a lot of garden maintenance to keep it up to standard during that time.

During Dec 2019 - Jan 2020, we did a two-month sit caring for two lovely cats. Following that, we looked after a large home in Teddington, keeping it well-maintained and secure.

We then looked after two young cats in Chiswick (see review on this site). We have become friends with thier owners and done multiple sits for them.

We will ensure your house and valuables are kept as safe as possible. We can be relied on to keep yours secure in the same way we have our own. For example, we can ensure alarms are on, clean and maintain the interior, clean up pet 'messes', do light gardening, collect mail, open and close curtains, ensure windows are properly closed and secure, and put lights on at various times to show the property is inhabited.

Why do we want to pet and house sit? Bonding with animals is rewarding and a privilege. Pet and house sitting has given us the opportunity to experience and explore numerous environments which we would otherwise never do, from city to suburban to country, leaving us with great memories.

Outstanding references can be supplied on request.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Laura and Andy were impeccable house sitters. They looked after our home with great care and it was beautifully clean and tidy on our return. They communicated quickly and effectively with us and were very sensitive to our needs. I could not recommend them more highly and would definitely use them again.

KATHERINE (Fairfax Road , Jan 2020 - 2 months) From House Sitters UK
We could not have been more pleased to have Laura and Andy to look after our house. We were away for 2 months, and we were able to enjoy our time without any worries. From the very start they were great communicators, and updated us often with photos and stories of our cats. On our arrival home, the house was very clean and the cats were happy. They were 100% reliable, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.
