Hello there, We are an American-Kiwi couple, moved about two years ago from the US back to NZ to be closer to our 4 adult children (who all moved back to NZ, where they grew up!). We were able to spend several enjoyable months pet-sitting and house-sitting in the Bay of Plenty and Auckland while awaiting the sale of our house in the States and looking for a home here.
Now that we're settled, we're thinking it would be nice to pet-sit again on occasion, to visit another area perhaps or spend some time closer to family (Auckland).
We had a variety of pet-sits in the year before finding a house to buy: looking after 2 little dogs and a rescue cat for a month, one big dog for 7 weeks, two little dogs for a month, a puppy for several days, a cat for 2 weeks, besides house-sitting for a few months. Interesting year! It was quite fun getting to know and spend time with our new furry friends, and I think the owners enjoyed getting photos here and there to see what their pets had been up to. :)
Having quite a few pets ourselves over the years, we know how important it is to have confidence in your home/pet-sitter, so you can relax and enjoy your time away. We both had pets growing up: cats, dogs, birds, gerbils, hamsters and fish. We've also had three cats of our own — one who adopted us, and two our family adopted from the local shelter (affectionately named Koru and Tui by our kids!).
We have also been home-owners for over 30 years, and we know what kind of care we'd like someone to take with our place; and that's how we aim to take care of another's home.
We're glad to be settling back in beautiful New Zealand, and if we can help sometime when you need to be away from your precious fur-babies, by looking after your home and pets, we'd love to hear from you.
Thanks. Doreen and Graham
