We are a family of experienced house-sitters that love to dote on animals. Our reviews speak for us, but you can read on to learn more.
WHY WE HOUSE-SIT:
The gypsies and adventurers in us love the chance to see more of this beautiful country and the animal-lovers in us find house-sitting more appealing than holiday parks or booking a holiday home. We also relish exploring this beautiful country and working together. We live in our new home in Maungaturoto when we're not travelling. Sometimes Ange takes sits on her own as writing retreats, sometimes she takes a daughter or a few, and sometimes the whole tribe travels together.
ABOUT US:
* Our two diligent eldest are home-schooled, ensuring consistent company for pets when Ange goes in for a shift at the museum.
* We've watched over city homes, executive residences, farm homesteads, beach houses, and off-grid homes.
* We have done short and long-term sits (our current range of experience is 1-night to 1-year).
* We are non-smoking, quiet, tidy, honest, respectful, and communicative.
* We have returned to 16 of our house-sits, so far (and would have returned to more if the dates had worked)! One home we have returned to 16 times!
* You can expect us to be careful, conscientious and clean, and for your pets to feel loved. We also care about continuing any training or boundaries you have in place.
* We enjoy watering gardens and have experience taking care of large lawns with ride-on mowers and line trimmers.
* Haki and Ange both know how to ride a quad bike and pull a trailer.
* We have experience cleaning and caring for pools and spas.
* We know how to conserve water and strive to conserve energy in all homes.
* We have done house-sits with cats, kittens, little dogs, big dogs, puppies, miniature horses, horses, cattle, calves, pigs, chickens, ducks, chicks, lizards, goats, kids, guinea pigs, rabbits, sheep, lambs, and fish. We've also administered medication and treatment to a number of animals as part of our care.
* We're good at giving shy animals space and letting them come to us as well as managing big, boisterous dogs.
* If you have a dog that requires long walks, we'll ensure that's what they get.
* Our three daughters are big kids, and more conscientious than most adults. They love to read, draw, and listen to music when they're not snuggling animals or surfing. They are 10.5, 12.5, and 14.5 years of age -- so not to be imagined as toddlers who will wander off into your creek or fiddle with your ornaments.
Angela grew up on farms; riding horses, mucking out stalls, jumping from barn lofts, watching calves be born, making cider from her own apple trees and bottling plum jam. She's a teacher by training, currently teaching the best students she's ever had. She is the manager at Mangawhai Museum, and writes books, making periodic visits to schools, expos, and shows. It is likely she will fall in love with your pet and talk about your pet for months.
Haki is strong, smart, and a quick learner. He loves walking dogs at the beach, mowing lawns with a podcast playing, long road trips, all things Tolkien, gaming, and time with family. He is the manager at Reece Warkworth, and is known for his warmth and sense of humour.
We are clear communicators and check messages often and we're happy to keep you posted on how your property and beloved animals are doing.

Ange and her friends house sat this past weekend, and once again, we were incredibly spoilt with another wonderful house sitter! Communication was exceptional right from the start and photos and updates during the weekend were lovely. We came home to a perfectly clean and tidy home and very happy pets. Ange and her daughters were brilliant! Great communication and I had total trust in them with your home and animals. We had an unfortunately unwell Guinea pig and they dealt with it with great care and compassion as if he was their own.

Great communication before and all thru the sit ...Went away carefree knowing the three dogs (and three cats when they made themselves visible) were being loved coddled and completely induldged by those three gorgeous girls .. Ange and Haki and girls took fantastic care of our property and animals. We had great communication before, during and after the house sit. Our animals were content and well cared for and our house was immaculate. Wonderful to come home to such a tidy house - even the towels and sheets in the linen cupboard were carefully folded and 100% better than I left it. The Cook family are totally delightful and the most wonderful house and pet sitters. Angela is very organised, responsible and a great clear communicator. Our animals were so very well looked after and given lots of attention and care. We got regular photos and updates which we very much enjoyed. Ange and family are wonderful pet and farm sitters. Their care and communication was second to none and included watering new tomato plants and rounding up newly hatched ducklings.
We would highly recommend them for any pet sitting. They're loving of animals (and people) and looked after our home like it was their own.

We were lucky enough to have Angela and her beautiful whanau come and take care of our bouncy fur babies for a weekend while we were away.
They took such amazing care of both our doodles and we were thrilled when our very shy and needy golden doodle fell in love with this lovely clan - a sure sign of how awesome they are.
Angela stayed in touch throughout the weekend and she was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Angela and her delightful family were awesome housesitters. Our two dogs were well entertained by constant attention! When we arrived home the house was so tidy - floors vacuum cleaned, a mission for anyone with Bertie around. There was freshly baked bread and some of my kitchen drawers had been super spruced. Love to have them back again.
From the outset of communication, we knew that Ange and Family were going to be the sitters for us. And although our dog and cats had no experience of children before, it was the perfect opportunity for a gentle immersive learning curve for them! This is our first experience of getting house sitters, and the bar has now been set pretty high. Ange, Haki and the girls looked after our home and pets with great care. They are respectful, honest, fabulous communicators and genuine people. We returned from a break to find the house sparkling, the pets contented and the garden watered. We would have these guys back at our place any day and recommend them to others.
Exceptional house sitters. We left our little kitty and our home in this beautiful families hands and I'm very happy we did. They left our place way cleaner than when we left and our baby was very well taken care of. They went above and beyond what anyone could ask for. It was an absolute privilege to have Ange and her adorable family to house and pet sit for us over the christmas break. From the moment we met I knew the house and the animals were all going to be in great hands! Constant peace of mind with daily photo updates of the animals not to mention the house and gardens were immaculate upon our return. Very very grateful for everything they did for us and would have them sit for us again in a heartbeat.
The Cooks were courteous, communicative and witty to boot. They took fabulous care of our home and fur baby and I would have them back in a second. A delightful family and a pleasure to have gotten to know. Highly recommended for any house or pet sitting job!
Angela and her three daughters looked after my dog and cat for a week and I couldn't have asked for better carers for my precious pets. My dog got plenty of exercise - more trips to the beach than I would imagine she had ever dreamed of - and lots of cuddles, which she loves. My cat was catered for according to her rather picky needs, including having to start medication just at the time I was going away. To say that Angela is an excellent communicator is the understatement of the century. From the moment we pressed "go" on the sit, Angela was in regular contact and took the time to pop past before the sit to meet us and the animals (luckily we live in the same city). We have a rather large menagerie of pets and a tricky power system, given that our house is off-grid, but we left on our trip confident that Angela and her girls had things in hand. Thank you so much Ange, Haki, Belle, Wesley and Eden, for taking care of all our animals, and house, while we were away for a few days. It wasn't a small ask by any means, with 11 calves to feed everyday, 9 lambs 3 x day, 2 goats and 5 dogs to tend to!!!! You all did a fantastic job and I could not have asked for better. Angela and her girls were such great house sitters. Angela is a great communicator and is well organised. She left the house spotless. The cats were well-loved and looked after. My favourite part was the lovely artwork done by her daughters and the sprinkling of notes throughout the house. Would highly recommned.
There is nothing more secure than having people at home while you're away. Get a house sitter.
