Kia ora and thank you for reading our profile! We are a retired, active, adventurous American couple who have the good fortune to go anywhere in the world and have been on the road since 2016. We are now in Germany, after spending 2 months in the UK. Prior to that, we spent the last 3 1/2 years house sitting and road tripping throughout New Zealand and Australia. We both have FBI background checks that were necessary for immigration and visa purposes in New Zealand. Over the years, we have found that we work best with decisive and responsive homeowners. We are also extremely tidy, organized and conscientious, and enjoy sitting for like-minded people.

House sitting and caring for your pets is such a perfect match for us. It allows us the opportunity to travel to non touristy locations and experience local culture, meet new and interesting people, and experience a variety of homes and lifestyles while providing excellent care for your furry family!
As mentioned above, we are experienced, full time house sitters and have completed 114 sits since January 2018. These assignments have given us the opportunity to care for 73 cats, 123 dogs, a host of goats, sheep, cows, pigs, alpacas, horses, exotic birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, and far too many chickens to count! We also had the unique opportunity to care for a farmed herd of Red deer!
Additionally, we also have experience with pools and koi ponds. The dogs have been all sizes, breeds and temperments. They have included dogs ranging from timid rescues requiring lots of patience, to elderly dogs requiring medication, to young, boisterous pups with lots of energy! The cats have included many breeds and personalities, some have been very cuddle loving and others very independent, and a few have been keen hunters.
We have taken care of a wide range of properties, from urban flats to rural homes to farms, both large and small, and some with heavy gardening responsibilities.
Having been homeowners for 35 years, we are practical, resourceful and fully committed to our responsibilities as your trusted house sitter!

Mary & Ken - what a gem we found!
From the first contact right through to when we arrived back home - 100% of what we could have wished for happened:
Firstly (and most importantly) our Whistler absolutely loved them! They enabled a smooth departure, as Whistler was a bit sad when he saw our luggage and none of his toys had been packed. They comforted him and he was so calm.

Mary and Ken are absolutely fabulous. This was our first house sit with strangers and we couldn’t have found anyone better. We felt from the start that our home and dogs would be in very capable hands.
When we returned the house was so very clean (cleaner than before!) bedding and towels washed and a lovely meal waiting for us in the fridge which made a Sunday evening return home much easier.

Definitely a personality clash between Bernadette and Mary fight from the time they arrived . As homeowners we try to accommodate the request of our house sitters if possible . Ken is a lovely guy and hopefully appreciated the use of the car we left them . They certainly covered a lot of kms. Mary in my personal opinion is a control Freek who must have everything her way . Mary & Ken were fantastic. They cared for our two rotties so well even with one of them being an unruly 1 year old who loves to get up to mischief. They kept us updated regularly with photos of our boys and reports on their antics. The house was absolutely spotless when we got home which was really appreciated. We honestly can't recommend Mary and Ken enough, they were amazing.

We would highly recommend Ken and Mary. We were fortunate enough to have them look after our home and dog Rosie for 6 weeks. The house, pool and gardens were left in an immaculate condition and we were greeted with one very happy dog. Upon our return Ken and Mary left a meal, fruit, essentials and a welcome home orchid and card. Thank you for this very thoughtful gift! Being new to the house sitting process we were a little apprehensive however; Ken and Mary facetimed and we had a meet up ... MOREWe would highly recommend Ken and Mary. Mary and Ken are extremely experienced house sitters having looked after many homes in Australia and New Zealand. There was nothing they couldn't handle, including draining water from my pool after heavy rain when the level of the pool got too high. I have an extensive garden which takes some time to water with a spear pump and tank water. Mary and Ken looked after my garden very well. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Mary and Ken as house sitters.

Mary and Ken are exceptional house and pet sitters. They looked after our 4 year old border collie and house while we were overseas for a month.
Mary and Ken clearly love pets and our dog warmed to them immediately. They're obviously highly experienced sitters and we felt confident leaving our dog with them. We suspect our dog got even more pats, attention and walks then usual & we received regular updates and pictures. They took her to the vet when she hurt her paw and gave her the vet ... WOW!! All I can say is that if you are fortunate enough to have Mary & Ken sit for you, you wont be sorry. We left May & Ken with our mini zoo of two dogs and 2 cats (with all their quirks and various ages/needs). We received daily pictures and updates, up to date communication and intelligent questions. Our animals and home were so well cared for.....walking in our front door from the airport at 1am this morning to an immaculate house, happy animals and a welcome home card, was more than we ... Absolute top-quality house sitters. We had the privilege of having Mary and Ken watch our two dogs and cats and chickens. They were thorough with communication and left the house in perfect condition. We came home to very sleepy dogs who had clearly been well looked after and walked well. We had a pet that needed to see the vet while we were away and Mary and Ken were quite capable with getting her the care she needed. Very highly recommended

If you can get Mary and Ken, go for it, they are amazing! We had a fox terrier for them to look after and when we arrived home we could tell that he was a very happy dog, I don't think he would have cared if we didn't return at all! Our house is not a new house but it looked very, very tidy when we returned, I couldn't be happier with their attention to detail and communication. They left a gift too, what more could you want!

What an exceptional sitter Ken was, everything was neat as a pin when I came back and jobs were done that were not required. Our fur babies were looked after with love and kindness which we saw in the photo's that were sent to us while away. I was dropped off and picked up from the airport and on my arrival home was greeted not only by happy dogs, clean home but a lavish morning tea. The communication before and during the housesit was perfect and our dog Teddy was very very well looked after and spoilt rotten.

Mary and Ken are fantastic. They have taken great care of our precious cat Ruby, We have returned home to a very contented and relaxed puss. The house in perfect condition, the lawns and gardens mown and tidied and looking great. They left us with a beautiful orchid, and made a great breakfast for us this morning. We would totally recommend Mary and Ken to anyone looking for house-sitters. We would have them back at our place in a heartbeat. Enormous thanks to you both.

Mary and Ken exceeded our expectations. They communicated with us constantly sending photos of our precious fur babies. They went the extra mile even gifts for us and a lovely cheese platter and wine awaited our return. The house was immaculate and we enjoyed spending time with them. Our border collie and cat obviously bonded with them. We highly recommend Mary and Ken they are the best.

It was a pleasure to have Mary and Ken look after our house and our dog Vinnie. They made a special effort to meet with us prior to the sit and they also spent the time reading the house manual and asking all about Vinnie's needs.
They communicated with us throughout the sit, sending us fun pictures and updates. On our return it was so wonderful to come back to an immaculately clean home. I highly recommend Mary & Ken. Their attention to detail is second to none. If they weren't sure of anything they contacted us. We have a 10 acre property with a large garden & lawns which were attended to to a high standard. They were also looking after our wee cat Lucy and Lucy was quite besotted with them and just about ignored me when We came home. Ken and Mary looked after our dogs Pippa and Simba very well, exercising them daily and taking to the vet when they noticed a nasty infection in Simbas ears. Lots of cuddles and treats made them best of friends for the 5 weeks we were away. We came home to not only 2 happy fur babies but an immaculately tidy and clean home, a fabulously clean swimming pool, a vase of beautiful fresh flowers on the table and a meal ready for our dinner. I can highly recommend Ken & Mary. They were fantastic :) Awesome communication, with care and attention to detail. and very easy to deal with. They sent us photo's of our boys whilst they sat for us, we had very happy kitties.
They even organised us dinner for our return and the house was left tidier than when we left, amazing!

Mary & Ken were great, they were very organised before the house sit with great communication. Our animals seemed really happy when we got back and they sent some lovely pics while we were away so we knew they were having fun. Upon our return it was awesome to get back to a such a well cleaned house, they had even mowed the lawn for us, and left some dinner and flowers for us - what a lovely surprise!
We would definitely love to use them again and can certainly recommend them to others.

We couldn't have asked for better house sitters than Mary and Ken. Our cat Mousey was one happy boy and we enjoyed seeing photos of him while we were away. The cottage was left spotless and we appreciated the extra mile they went to in leaving us a few fresh supplies for our return. Thoughtful, caring and super easy to communicate with, I'd love to book them again.

Mary and Ken were the best sitters we have had. It all started with great communication of expectations, they were so prompt and reliable and we felt so comfortable leaving our home and pets in their care.
We returned to a happy home, groomed cats (that's no easy task!!), a spotless house and a dinner in the fridge. Marvellous, I couldn't recommend these two lovely, gracious people more highly. Thank you both so much.

Mary & Ken - what a gem we found!
From the first contact right through to when we arrived back home - 100% of what we could have wished for happened:
Firstly (and most importantly) our Whistler absolutely loved them! They enabled a smooth departure, as Whistler was a bit sad when he saw our luggage and none of his toys had been packed. They comforted him and he was so calm.

Definitely a personality clash between Bernadette and Mary fight from the time they arrived . As homeowners we try to accommodate the request of our house sitters if possible . Ken is a lovely guy and hopefully appreciated the use of the car we left them . They certainly covered a lot of kms. Mary in my personal opinion is a control Freek who must have everything her way . If you are prepared to put up with this personality fine. As you can see 5 out of 5 for house and garden . Richard
