We need a house sitter

Wellington - Kapiti Coast

Debbie

My lovely animal family need looking after while I'm away. This will not suit someone who is working full time or away for most of the day.

There are 2 cats, a lovely greyhound, chickens and 2 horses. Some experience and being comfortable with horses in terms of managing them at feed time and putting on/taking off covers is essential. They are feed twice a day and their covers generally are taken off and on each day.

My greyhound is a lovely affectionate girl, who needs an on lead walk (or 2) each day. She can be left inside for a few hours, but not for the whole day. One of the cats needs an inhaler each day (really!). He is good about taking it, so it's fairly easy.

The house is modern, with a woodburner, and has great indoor/outdoor flow with lots of birdlife and a wetland. We live near a lovely beach, and are located about halfway between Waikanae and Otaki.

Please email with any other questions!
Thanks, Debbie

We had a great time there. The animals are lovely and we had alot of fun. The garden and the house is beautiful it felt like a vacation and the owner is great. (Thanks for the bread again!) If you have the chance to stay there, definitely do that. We miss all the pets already

AMY BLUEMKE & FREY REHPENN (Apr 2024 - 1 week 2 nights)
We really enjoyed our time looking after Debbie’s beautiful home and pets. It was great to be with horses again and’ ‘Frannie’ & ‘Remedy’ were a breeze to look after. The 2 cats, Tui & Mandela, were pretty independent, though happy to give and receive cuddles once they got to know us. Sapphire, the greyhound, was very entertaining doing ‘zoomies’ around the grounds and after a walk, was quite happy to sit in the sun and chill for the rest of the afternoon! This is a lovely place to ‘get ... MORE

We loved our stay at Debbie's house. The animals are a dream to look after. The house lovely and is in a very peaceful location. We would jump at the opportunity to stay again.

ROWAN AND MILLY (Aug 2022 - 3 days)
It is a privilege to get to know everyone and make sure everyone is fed and happy in this quiet and peaceful piece of paradise. Debbie is kind and clear about all details of the running of the place. Frannie the chestnut thoroughbred likes being brushed down while she's eating, and Satin the white pony just enjoys eating & looking cute in her long leg hairs that dangle over her hoofs and make it look like she's wearing 70s disco flares. Sapphire the black greyhound loves running, sniffing for ... MORE

We thoroughly enjoyed taking care of Debbie's animals. Mandella the cat is a real cool dude that gives great cuddles when he gets to know you Tui was very shy. The horses were super quiet and everything was well set up to run smoothly with clear instructions and minimal effort. Good communication from Debbie throughout. We were able to relax and soak in the lovely peaceful country surroundings. Thankyou Debbie highly reccomend!

GAIL (Jan 2022 - 1 week 6 days)
Wonderful opportunity to explore a part of NZ that we didn't know. Lovely comfortable modern house with a great wood burner! Horses Franny and Satin both calm and gentle and we enjoyed feeding and tucking them in at night. The chooks are hilarious especially Sylvia and we got a lovely fresh egg every day. Lovely land and private gardens. The cats Tui and Mandela were great company. Mandela entertained us every evening with his acrobatics on our laps! Deffinately recommend this house ... MORE

WENDY (Jul 2020 - 1 week)
Being welcomed by Debbie & daughter Mahala and having dinner together was a lovely start of my house sit. They really took the time and effort to explain how everything every day worked for the pets and plants e.g. Mandela is the playful cat, there,s Franny the horse and Saturn is a little pony sweetheart, Jack is a lovely easy going dog, 4 chickens and Tui the cat who comes and goes. It is a really peaceful area and a very nice house and room with a shower who gives you the ultimate shower ... MORE

No rating We had the pleasure of house and pet sitting for Debbie in during one week in January 2018. Debbie's hospitality and pets left us with wonderful positive impressions and we thank Debbie for entrusting us with her beloved cheeky Horse named Frannie a cute Pony named Saturn, Jack the dog (an ultra lovable dude) .....5 easy going chickens and two mysterious black cats, one of whom chose to bond with us and the other who came and went about its business without any fuss....all in all a great ... No rating Debbie welcomed us to a warm, tidy home with a lovely log burner and even cooked us an evening meal, before she left on her holidays, which we were not expecting. The tasks of looking after the cats, Jack the dog and the horses were simple and Debbie went through our tasks thoroughly before she left. It was was a great week and I would definitely recommend sitting here. Thanks Debbie!
ROSE (Jun 2017 - 6 days)
No rating I house sat for Debbie recently at her peaceful property in Te Horo. The house was clean and comfortable and I had a lovely night's sleep in a great bed. Jack the dog was super sweet and easy to look after, content with some walks and pats. The property is in a lovely rural setting with fruit trees, birds and decks for you to soak it all up and relax.
