We need a house sitter

Auckland - Waitakere

Jill

I am planning a month overseas between mid- Aug and end Sep, 2024, and would love a single sitter to stay in my rural, fully off-grid tiny house, look after my two cats, and enjoy the tranquility of my paddock location, in easy proximity to shops and main services, in NorthWest Auckland.

Dixie (tabby) and Banjo are pretty independent (come and go during the day but usually out wandering the farm. They sleep inside at night - with you on the double bed or on the couch. Twice daily dry feeds - last feed to encourage them inside before you go to bed. They're not super smoochy but they do love a scratch/rub in their own time. No meds/special treatment, you just need to be able to identify anything that might be vet-worthy (the usual examples e.g. an occasional eye infection or maybe a beat up from a local stray, though we haven't seen him for a year or more). You'll have to be able to deal with the odd mouse gift, Banjo's a fairly keen hunter.

Off-grid in this case means: gas hot water and cooking (easy), solar power for everything else, rain collection water tank, sawdust compost loo (fancy bucket - see Bambooloo).
Tiny house is single level (no lofts/internal stairs/ladders) 3x10m with kitchen/living/bathroom with full shower/bedroom and washing machine. Adjoins a 3x9m partly covered deck for starry night viewing and rural daytime ruminations. You will need to monitor solar power (of which there is plenty) via an easy app and water tank levels (again, plentiful, especially in Auckland!). Any top-ups for these and gas can be easily and quickly arranged but unlikely to be needed.
The property is a life-style block with a main house (about 200 metres from the tiny house) occupied by my family - help is close at hand if anything crops up.
Access to the tiny house is a short walk (1-2 mins) through a gated paddock - torch required at night and gumboots in the rain. Up to one week during your stay the 10 young cows may be in the tiny house paddock so extra gate vigilence required.
Use of my small auto car is available.
My dates are approximate and flexible - finding the right sitter will guide this.
