Helen

Cosy quaint quirky cottage on a generous amount of land sited on the Glacier tourist route in the middle of nature. Plenty of nature walks and mountain hikes. The local store is 10 minutes away. Chickens to be fed in the morning and afternoon. Outside cat are fed only once a day. kittens need attention but sleep plenty. Horses, sheep and alpacas just need an eye kept on them in general. Keep plants alive. Home is with all modern conveniences...

How lovely to be able to spend a precious week with Missy (horse), Diggles (dog), ten chickens, four sheep and three cats! The pupp is the loveliest, energetic, cuddly, affectionate soul of a dog. He always comes when called, he loves the outdoors but also will be happy to just be with you when you're taking it easy. No troubles whatsoever. Missy, the horse, is so kind and gentle, and we went from sniff and go to a full body brusing and neck to neck hugs. I don't ride, so can't tell you much ... MORE

NELA (Feb 2024 - 5 nights)
Our experience was mixed. The animals are lovely, especially Dougal and the two kittens. However, we didn't have an adequate supply of kitten food/milk or cat litter which made caring for the kittens very difficult. We had to change their food midway through the stay which upset their stomachs making it very difficult to keep them clean, especially without proper litter. Helen said to collect sand from the river to use which wasn't suitable. The kitchen/living room where the kittens lived was ... MORE

SARAH (Feb 2024 - 5 nights)
Yes I apologise for the state of the kitchen due to the fact that I have broken my finger and these duties are made difficult for me with one hand at my disposal. As far as food goes for kittens they were dumped and I was left holding the baby as it goes. Life sometimes throws you a curve ball. My ... MORE
I didn't meet Helen but we communicated before and during the sit easily. This small holding is delightful: so peaceful with mountains at the back and views all round. If ever you get an opportunity to go and look after Missy the horse, Dougal the dog the hens and the sheep,, take it. I had a really enjoyable and relaxing stay with lots of walks with the Dougal who is just a wonderful character and great company!

ELIZABETH (Feb 2024 - 6 nights)
Thank you Helen for the opportunity to house sit for you. The horses were characters that enjoyed our pats and treats attention. The chickens provided lots of entertainment, and meow meow lots of snuggles and pats. The country setting with the mountain backdrop an absolute treat, and so close to both the glaciers (Fox & Franz) we were spoilt. Your home was lovely and quiet and provided us with such a tranquil stay. Greatly appreciated ❤️

SHELLEY (Jun 2023 - 1 week 3 nights)
I loved my time at Helen's place looking after the horses, cats & chooks. It is a beautiful setting right below the maunga, and the pets are all very friendly. It was easy to communicate with Helen regarding the arrangements & any questions. I have already returned for a second and third house sitting stint, and hopefully there will be more to come.
